We shouldn’t let a small group of multinational agribusiness\u00a0firms decide what farmers plant and what we eat. The more that responsible parents, progressive farmers and activists understand the hidden costs of our broken and unsustainable food system, the more we can do to change it.<\/span><\/p>\n

International food giants like Monsanto, Syngenta, Bunge, Dreyfus, ADM and Cargill dominate virtually every step in the cycle of global food production.<\/p>\n

They decide the type of seeds we plant, the price of major crops, how they are grown and how they are brought to market. They are the ones that advance the industrial agriculture model that putting an unbearable strain on the planet. As these companies become more and more powerful, they make decisions that benefit their appetite for global dominance, not the health of consumers or the planet.<\/p>\n

But with knowledge comes power. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The more that responsible parents, progressive farmers and activists understand the hidden costs of our broken and unsustainable food system, the more we can do to change it. One of the biggest things we can do is not endorse it. Don\u2019t invest in it. Don\u2019t buy food that is grown on factory farms or overly processed. Big agribusiness firms can only grow and thrive if consumers remain disconnected to where their\u00a0food comes from.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0can reconnect to how our food is made and who made it by buying from local eco-farms and making healthy, fresh choices for our families.<\/p>\n

Together, we can embrace innovative eco-farming solutions that aren\u2019t rooted in an industrial system with an expiration date. And we can act now. Let\u2019s revise our shopping lists and menus to endorse an alternative farming system that can feed the world for generations to come.<\/p>\n
