The problem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Corporate polluters and right-wing billionaires have long tried to use their wealth and power to slow down progress towards a green and peaceful future. Some of these actions are taken openly, while others are hidden from public view by dark money networks. People-powered movements can counteract the influence of these networks, but first we need to understand how they operate.<\/p>\n<\/div>

What can be done<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Greenpeace USA\u2019s investigations seek to make these shadowy networks visible, and to shine a light on how they manipulate our democracy, media, and public spaces. Some of this research involves following the money, from tracking campaign contributions to unraveling funding for astroturf groups \u2013 or for public institutions such as universities or museums. Other research monitors the revolving door that allows lobbyists and consultants to move between industry groups and government agencies. In-depth projects expose how polluters use their money and influence to help spread anti-democratic laws, exploit the judicial system, and coordinate with law enforcement to punish and deter protesters.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
