WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 30, 2025) \u2013<\/strong> Today, Greenpeace USA campaigners marked the first 100 days of this administration\u2019s second term by displaying powerful messaging coast to coast. In Washington, D.C. members of our democracy campaign unfurled a banner reading “We the People: Preserve, Protect, Defend”<\/strong> in front of the U.S. Constitution display at the National Archives. And across the country, in California, a bold projection of purpose and defiance to this administration\u2019s shameful actions shone on the Marin Headlands scenic backdrop to the Golden Gate Bridge. These actions launched the Greenpeace\u2019s new #TimeToResist<\/strong> global campaign.<\/p>\n\n

This comes after 100 days of chaos and lawlessness, escalating threats to democracy, climate action, and civil rights \u2013 led by billionaire oligarchs and corporate bullies who are using money and insider relationships in Washington to try to silence dissent. Greenpeace USA\u2019s campaign is a bold defense, not just of the planet, but the foundational freedoms that protect it.<\/p>\n\n

Dr. Folabi Olagbaju, Democracy Campaign Director, Greenpeace USA, said: <\/strong> \u201cGreenpeace\u2019s mission has always been to preserve, protect, and defend <\/em>our just green world and today, that means defending the very document that makes this critical advocacy work possible. We the People<\/em> is a phrase that belongs to all of us\u2026 it is not owned by corporations, or billionaires, or politicians. As the constitutional<\/em> rights to free speech and due process come under attack on university campuses, in major law firms, and even inside legacy journalism institutions, Greenpeace USA is making clear that our fight is not just about defending the environment and safeguarding climate: it\u2019s about defending democracy itself.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe are here to remind this administration, and the nation, that constitutional rights belong to the people. Free speech, protest, and dissent are not negotiable. They are the foundation of any livable future, and we will resist any effort to erase them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

At nightfall in California, Greenpeace USA projected a powerful message of purpose and defiance onto the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. The action marked 100 days into the administration\u2019s second term and launched the global #TimeToResist campaign \u2014 a call to push back against attacks on democracy, dissent, and environmental justice from from billionaire oligarchs and corporate bullies.
