Washington DC (Dec 6, 2022) \u2013 In response to Senator Manchin and Senator Schumer\u2019s dirty permitting deal being removed from the NDAA, Greenpeace USA Chief Program Officer Tefere Gebre said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe will of the people triumphed over Big Oil and the politicians they can buy. Americans have spoken \u2013 twice! We won\u2019t let the fossil fuel industry build whatever polluting project they want, wherever they want. The public has to be able to have a say \u2013 especially the frontline, low-income, and BIPOC communities who have far too often been targeted for these projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not stand by while politicians make a handshake agreement that betrays the people of color who elected them. We know that Senator Manchin and Senator Schumer will once again try and revive this Dirty Deal in the coming weeks, and thanks to the environmental justice community and organizers on the ground, we\u2019ll be ready to defeat it again.
