Major oil and gas player Energy Transfer has a lot to gain from a second Trump presidency at the expense of ordinary people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The co-founder and chairman of Energy Transfer (ET) Kelcy Warren and former president Donald Trump have a history of mutually enabling each other\u2019s agenda. Warren, an oil and gas oligarch with a history of attempting to <\/span>squash<\/span><\/a> critics, and Trump, the former president who tried to <\/span>overthrow a democratic election<\/span><\/a>, have a lot <\/span>in common<\/span><\/a>. The pair have a long standing alliance built by campaign donations, favorable policies and deregulations, and a <\/span>shared<\/span><\/a> interest<\/span><\/a> in \u201clegal warfare\u201d. In Trump\u2019s most recent bid for the US presidency, he has <\/span>explicitly promised<\/span><\/a> oil tycoons that he will move the federal government in their favor so long as <\/span>they financially back<\/span><\/a> his campaign. They <\/span>have been happy to oblige<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gains: Environmental Deregulation<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

Trump has <\/span>promised<\/span><\/a> to roll back many of Biden\u2019s environmental policies and actions on clean energy and climate. Trump also <\/span>made promises<\/span><\/a> to revive offshore drilling, expedite permit approvals for fossil fuel infrastructure and operations, and deregulate the environmental standards and reviews fossil fuel corporations have to abide by \u2013 in exchange for the billionaires\u2019 donations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Warren and other oil barons are positioning themselves to cash in on Trump\u2019s offer. Many of the pledged changes would be particularly valuable to ET \u2013 and to <\/span>Warren, ET\u2019s largest shareholder<\/span><\/a> \u2013 allowing them to expand infrastructure, pursue more contracts, and increase profits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
