Report ranks supermarkets on their efforts to protect our oceans and the people who depend on them<\/span>
Carting Away the Oceans evaluates and ranks major U.S. grocery retailers on their sustainable seafood commitments. How does your favorite supermarket rank?<\/span><\/p>\n

This 10th-anniversary edition of Carting Away the Oceans<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em>identifies which major supermarkets are leaders in sustainable seafood and which are falling behind.<\/span><\/p>\n

The findings are telling.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whole Foods, Hy-Vee, ALDI, and Target topped the list for their sustainable seafood practices. Price Chopper, Save Mart, and Wakefern were the worst ranked companies. While 90% of the 22 assessed retailers passed, all must take significant action to address ongoing labor and human rights abuses in the seafood industry and to start phasing out single-use plastics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Applauding industry leaders and exposing those lagging behind is key to getting supermarkets to take responsibility\u00a0while helping to protect our oceans and the people who depend on them<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
