Facilities Internship (DC)

The Facilities Assistant Intern works with our Facilities Director, Facilities Assistant and Receptionist in Washington, DC to coordinate building management and facilities related issues, as well as vendor relations and hospitality.

Overview of where position fits within greater organization
The Facilities intern will work directly with the DC Facilities Assistant and the Facilities Team. The team has staff in Washington DC, and in Oakland CA. They report to the Facilities Director .

Project Details
The Facilities intern will join a team working on ensuring a smooth running of the office operations and comfortable, well-functioning work environment.

Expected Project Deliverables
The Facilities intern will support the Facilities Team with the tickets requests from staff, assist with internal office moves, welcome visitors, oversee deliveries, and help maintain perfect appearance of the common areas.

Committed to community and environmental issues
Must be able to lift 30 pounds

Preferred Skills
Use of Microsoft Office preferred
Experience in a mailroom or administrative assistant position
Interest in learning about the inner workings of nonprofits

Skills Intern Will Gain Post-internship
The intern will gain a deep understanding of an administrative role within a nonprofit. They will also learn how to operate in an office environment that requires them to be consistently engaged. Multi-tasking and prioritization is especially difficult in a fast paced office. The intern will gain experience navigating that aspect of the work along with learning about best practices for strategic planning.
