Global Warming ("Quit Coal") Internship

Global Warming InternshipCoal-fired power plants produce a third of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, and pollution from coal power kills more than 13,000 Americans every year. The Global Warming Team (also known as the "Quit Coal Team") is currently focusing much of its efforts on getting America off this dirty energy source--helping to shut down coal-fired power plants and replace them with clean, renewable energy. Greenpeace is already engaged in a number of campaigns to shut down plants and will greatly expand its efforts in the next several years.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Online research on companies and policies related to the coal industry
  • Fact-checking
  • Data compilation
  • Writing factsheets and internal documents
  • Assistance with various projects, events, activities, and logistics
  • General administrative support
  • Other duties as apparent

This internship tries to afford interns the opportunity to work with other campaigns and departments, but working for the Global Warming Team will be a top priority.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong online research skills
  • Ability to work in Excel
  • Ability to work well independently and efficiently
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Commitment to non-violence as a means of affecting change
  • Enthusiasm for fighting the coal industry and protecting the environment
