Meg Cabot and Greenpeace

Mia Thermopolis, the Crown Princess of Genovia may be royalty, but that does not mean she doesn’t know how to get down and dirty. While many see her as the poised and beautiful ruler of Genovia, those close to her know that she is just a regular girl who bites her nails, writes in her diary, fights for animal rights, and is passionate about saving the environment.  Most of us are familiar with the journals of the Princess of Genovia (published as The Princess Diaries, Volumes I-X) in which she dutifully chronicles the troubled life of being teenage royalty. More recently though, Her Royal Highness has published her first serious novel, Ransom My Heart, and has generously prepared to donate all of the proceeds to her favorite charity; Greenpeace! Mia admires Greenpeace’s commitment to the environment and to making our world a safer and cleaner place for everyone. She encourages you to take a peak at her book because as Her Royal Highness says, “you’re doing something good for the environment and tiny baby penguins and seals and stuff when you buy a copy.” Unfortunately Princess Mia simply does not have enough hours in the day to spend out on a rubber raft throwing herself between the whales and the harpoon, as she once dreamed of doing. However, she hopes that using the money generated from her book Greenpeace will be able to continue their noble work and that she may live vicariously through them. So through this book, the heartfelt dreams of a princess will be realized. And isn’t that what books are for? So that readers can live their own dreams through the words of another? Many thanks to Greenpeace and Avon/Morrowfacebook/HarperCollins Publishers for so graciously agreeing to help make this princess’s dreams come true….
