Wood supplied from well managed, sustainable forests is the first step in insuring the products are not coming from clear-cut lands or old growth timber. Certified wood enables the consumer to identify products and practices that do not destroy forests, wildlife habitat, and the environment. Certification, provides a commercial incentive for forest managers to adopt sustainable or 'well managed' forestry practices. The following list provides information on some certification programs.
