Project Hot Seat—Heating Up Congress

Feature story - July 30, 2007
This summer we ignited Project Hot Seat—our campaign to light a fire under Congress and push them to solve the global warming crisis. President Bush has failed to lead the country on global warming, so it's up to Congress to step up and change the future.

It's time to make the United States a global leader by implementing policies that will reduce our global warming pollution.

Scientists say that in order to avoid the most dangerous impacts of global warming we must begin to significantly reduce our emissions in the next ten years. The window of opportunity is closing, and the time for action is now. It's time for America to take responsibility as the world's #1 polluter, by capping global warming pollution. Coal-fired power plants are the largest single source of global warming pollution. Cars, trucks and SUVs run a close second.

We're turning up the heat by engaging communities all across the nation to speak up and let their Congressperson know that stopping global warming is a top priority. Congress is definitely feeling the heat from their constituents as they join Project Hot Seat and speak out.

Heat Wave Hits the U.S.

Greenpeace activists and community leaders have been coming out in full force, starting a massive heat wave! This summer, Project Hot Seat kicked off with events all around the country. From banners and demonstrations to parades and community education events, activists are gathering nationwide to put the spotlight on global warming and get the attention of Congress.

Project Hot Seat events are just building steam, so it's not too late for you to get involved.
