There's No Debate About It: We Want Clean Energy Now!

Feature story - September 29, 2004
On the eve of the first presidential debate in Miami Florida, we held a demonstration for clean energy. Supporters wrote messages on model windmills to be delivered to the candidates' Miami campaign headquarters. Send your own clean energy message to George Bush and John Kerry.

Miami College student Kierra Telfort joins with Greenpeace and over one hundred of her neighbors to urge President Bush and Senator Kerry to invest in renewable energy.

As Senator John Kerry campaigns for president this year, thank him for pledging that if elected, he will present legislation calling for a national renewable energy standard. This standard will mandate that 20 percent of our nation's energy come from renewable sources like wind and solar by 2020.

Ask him to go a step further by pledging to present the legislation within the first 100 days of his term and to instruct the federal government to install 250 Megawatts of solar power by the end of his first term, providing a huge boost to the U.S. solar industry and creating thousands of high paying jobs.

As President Bush campaigns for re-election this year, let him know that you want him to pledge, as his opponent Senator John Kerry has done, that he will present legislation calling for a national renewable energy standard as a priority. Ask him too to make this pledge within the first 100 days of his next term.
