I have been living in Guadeloupe, in the French West Indies, for
almost 20 years (please excuse my English). I know that the
frequency of hurricanes being caused by global warming has not been
fully established, but I can tell you that lately every hurricane
season is more and more active. It begins earlier and finishes
later and keeps setting new records. Today is the 13th of July and
we are expecting "Emily" - the fifth phenomenon of the season. I
have heard that it is travelling very fast and that it is on its
way to the United States.
At the time of the Kyoto Protocol, the Bush administration was
not acknowledging the global warming crisis, but now it is obliged
to face it. France will suffer a lot from global warming, but some
places like the North and South Poles, will be more affected! The
south of France will experience a climate similar to the climate of
south Spain or Algeria in the future. This year there is a shortage
of water and an abundance of locusts, eating the crops like in
Africa. And last but not least, it will be affecting the quality
of our greatest wines...
