Greenpeace Response to News That Trump Might Be Considering Reversing Paris Decision

September 16, 2017

In response to reports that the Trump Administration might be reconsidering a withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord, Greenpeace USA spokesperson Travis Nichols said:

“How many more climate disasters will there have to be before the Trump administration recognizes reality? Climate-fueled hurricanes like Harvey and Irma show in the starkest terms possible how the Paris Climate Agreement is in the United States’ best interest and that it’s past time to take action. Trump should never have withdrawn from Paris in the first place, and he should by all means reverse course immediately. In the wake of Harvey and Irma, even Trump can now plainly see that the Paris terms are immensely favorable when compared to climate inaction, denial, and isolation. Destruction wrought from climate change is only going to get worse, and the rest of the world already knows it. Until Trump actually re-joins the rest of the world, he’ll remain a climate deadbeat.”
