Following a lawsuit filed against Greenpeace and others by Trump’s go-to law firm on behalf of Energy Transfer Partners, the company behind the pipeline, Greenpeace Climate and Energy Director Kelly Mitchell said:
“Trump’s visit to North Dakota is yet another dog and pony show to promote the failing oil and gas industry, while ignoring the Indigenous communities that united at Standing Rock to fight for justice. To visit this state, speak at a refinery, and tout more giveaways to corporate America is a slap in the face to the Indigenous water protectors who have simply demanded sovereignty, respect, and the clean environment they deserve.
“While Trump and his go-to Kasowitz law firm attempt to silence dissent, the people will continue to fight back. Whether it be their baseless legal attacks against those who stood up at Standing Rock or attacks on journalists and advocacy groups, Trump and his corporate bullies will continue to fail. The end of the fossil fuel era is upon us, and no pep rallies by this administration will change that.”
