Scott Pruitt’s Resignation a Year and a Half Overdue

by Kate Fried

July 5, 2018

In response to the announcement that Scott Pruitt has resigned as head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Naomi Ages, Climate Campaigner at Greenpeace USA issued the following statement:

“Scott Pruitt’s disastrous run as head of the EPA is ‘blessedly’ coming to a close, but not before he attempted to enact some of the most regressive and dangerous policies ever seen from this once vital government agency. Pruitt’s time at the EPA was marked by numerous scandals, but the biggest scandal of all is the fact that he was allowed to run an agency created to protect human health and the environment. As Attorney General of Oklahoma, Pruitt fought for the interests of the oil and gas industry, and his time at the EPA was no different.

“The Trump administration should not get off scot-free for the damages it has already wrought on the planet. Advocates have called for Pruitt’s resignation from the moment he came to D.C, and Greenpeace will continue to fight rollbacks of environmental protections that any unfit successor may suggest.”
