UPDATE: Greenpeace “RESIST” Activists Charged, Released

January 26, 2017

Washington, DC- The seven Greenpeace activists who deployed a giant “RESIST” banner above the White House yesterday have been released after being detained and charged with:

*Unlawful Entry

*Destruction of Property Less Than $1,000

*Unlawful demonstrating

Despite media reports to the contrary, Greenpeace did not cut any locks to gain entry to the site. The “RESIST” message stayed in the air for over five hours Wednesday and gained international attention.

“We want to thank everyone who supported us yesterday in our effort to resist the direction this country is going,” said activist and Greenpeace Inc. Board Chair Karen Topakian. “While we are exhausted today, we feel fully energized by the powerful resistance movement and we’re ready to get back to work building a country and society that protects our most vulnerable.”
