印尼逆流學生:眼淚無法灌溉雨林,唯有行動

編按:「眼淚,不足以守護雨林,因此我成為行動者。」印尼學生Waya Maweru抹去為雨林消逝而流的淚水,上月中聯同另外五位行動者在西班牙卡迪斯灣海面,和平登上一艘由印尼駛往荷蘭鹿特丹、載有全球最大毀林棕櫚油供應商豐益國際(Wilmar)棕櫚油產品的貨輪,要求豐益國際及Oreo生產商億滋國際(Mondelēz International)等消費品牌停止助長破壞印尼雨林;以下由她分享行動前夕的心路歷程。

每當想起在印尼家鄉目睹的凋零景象,我無法停止哭泣。

曾經壯麗、翠綠、充滿生機的雨林,如今只有孤寂。曾經有紅毛猩猩擺盪、鳥兒歌唱的樹蔭,如今只有靜默。曾經倚靠森林供給糧食、藥物維生的人們,如今一無所有。

為了開墾棕櫚油種植園,我們的珍貴雨林飽受摧殘、物種瀕臨滅絕、民眾慘遭剝削。

這就是我身處這裡的原因──我與另外五位行動者在大西洋登上了一艘運載毀林棕櫚油產品的大型貨輪,產品很可能於歐洲超市銷售。而生產這些貨品的豐益國際,正是全球最大毀林棕櫚油供應商。

我害怕嗎?我無所畏懼。

行動當然有風險,從船側攀上貨輪亦很艱難,但袖手旁觀只會使我們的地球更凶險。我再也不能沉默。

印尼民眾病倒了、累透了──2015年那場無情大火,令數以萬計城市居民難以呼吸,令一眾以森林為家的社群流離失所,而我們至今仍在復原。豐益國際卻一直對各種毀林與侵害人權的行為視而不見。

這艘貨輪正把毀林棕櫚油產品送進人們的家。儘管大片雨林已經消逝,我們尚有阻擋下一部推土機開動的機會。

很多深受消費者愛戴的品牌如Oreo,向顧客承諾只會使用「不毀林」棕櫚油,但他們並未兌現承諾。

當消費品牌持續向豐益國際採購棕櫚油,它們不只助長這場環境與社會危機,更令顧客大失所望。生產棕櫚油可以「不毀林」,而我們不會妥協。

我挺身而出行動,只因承諾解決問題的企業不為所動。身處船上,我要確保豐益國際無法忽略我們整頓棕櫚油供應鏈的訴求。

我不想有朝一日回看毀林景象,才發覺自己從來沒有為此行動。我們需要立即阻止毀林行為,否則它只會繼續禍延世界各地。這不是我所盼望的世界。

後記:

Waya等六名行動者成功登上Stolt Tenacity貨輪,並展示「拯救雨林」、「拒絕毀林棕櫚油」橫額,但其後一度被扣留船艙內長達33小時,最終獲西班牙當局釋放。

11月24日,綠色和平荷蘭辦公室的六位行動者,阻止Stolt Tenacity停泊於荷蘭鹿特丹港口,並和平展示「Oreo,停止使用毀林棕櫚油」的橫額。其中一位來自印尼蘇門答臘的行動者Lara Wido Mathovani,本身亦是綠色和平「雨林救火隊」成員,她表示:「棕櫚油企業為了開墾種植園,在我的村落附近焚燒土地。每年火勢都會失控,每年我熟悉的人都在霧霾裡無法呼吸、雨林都會化為灰燼。從雨林最前線與火舌搏鬥,到今天遠離家鄉行動,我想告訴Oreo:為了雨林、為了您我,必須停止使用毀林棕櫚油。」
