Oil has been a tremendous resource for some countries in the Middle East and North Africa and a burden to others. It has allowed producer states to leapfrog into the modern world and build strong economies while others fell into a consumption addiction for the sake of energy security.
While it has fueled progress and development, production and consumption of oil is now threatening our climate and our region’s stability.
