Greenpeace South Asia is a newly established regional office which is at the initial stage of development with an interesting portfolio of the countries. GPSA’s environmental campaigns are focussed on just transition, climate change adaptation and building momentum towards more inclusive environment protection and sustainable development initiatives.
The purpose of the Web Developer role at GPSA is to ensure effective web publishing by developing and supporting websites and tools (websites, applications) that drive engagement with Greenpeace campaigns while contributing to the planning of digital campaign strategies.
Whom we’re looking for:
● 2-3 years of professional experience in frontend web development
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
● Portfolio showcasing complex and high-quality web development projects (required)
● In-depth knowledge of UI/UX design principles
● Proven track record with responsive design methodologies
● Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
● Experienced in integrating CRM and advocacy platforms (Hubspot), supporting multi-channel campaigns across web and mobile platforms
● Knowledge/experience of working in customized WordPress environments.
● Advanced proficiency in HTML5
● Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+)
● Demonstrated experience with responsive CSS design frameworks/methodologies
● Advance proficiency of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions
● Proficiency in version control systems, especially Git
● Demonstrate strong learning agility to quickly understand business environments and effectively convert the requirement into technical deliverables
● Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative, cross-functional workflows. Committed to documentation and knowledge sharing.
● Awareness of data protection laws (GDPR, India’s DPDP Act) and cybersecurity best practices.
In this role you will:
● Support day-to-day website operation and content updates
● Engage with campaigners to develop digital plans
● Develop and design websites and microsites using HTML, JS, CSS, PHP, SQL and relevant frameworks like Laravel, Next js, React
● Coordinate with external service providers (Design agencies, mobile application developers, online advertising providers) and international Greenpeace teams to incorporate features/tools into our web projects/applications
● Develop and maintain responsive web applications using advanced HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
● Maintain updated understanding of emerging web technologies and market trends
● Collaborate closely with design and backend teams to deliver cohesive and functional digital products.
● Optimize application performance for maximum speed, scalability, and user experience.
● Ensure consistent cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility across all web projects.
