About the role:
The partnership assistant role will be to support the Strategic and Creative Partnerships team by undertaking certain tasks including and not limited to:
- Receiving all incoming partnership requests, update/capture these details into the requests database.
- Research organisations/grassroots/key influencers to gather all information and identify existing and past projects/events as well as potential risk.
- Support during event and activity planning such as the Climate Justice Movement launches in the various regions by actively assisting with the needs of the team such as various admin tasks; emailing, assisting with internal coordination of stakeholders, attending meetings, attending the events and information gathering.
- Capture all meeting notes and follow up on action points with guidance from team members.
- Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken) – to assist with interpretations and translation of documents such as; MOUs, project TORs and other documentation when required.
- Identifying opportunities for partner work on campaigns as well as independent projects.
- Compulsory attendance of all partnership meetings, including planning, strategic and feedback meetings as well as potential partner introductory meetings and Global online meetings if and when required.
- Must be based in one of the regions within the Greenpeace Africa network and where we currently have an office.
About the Partnerships Programme:
Greenpeace Africa’s Partnerships programme is supported by two strands of complementary operations; Strategic Partners and Creative Partners.
Strategic partnerships forms part of our movement building programme that forges strong alliances in order to strengthen our capacity to achieve our objectives. As an organisation we build partnerships to facilitate the emergence of powerful movements based on African consciousness that promotes the development of beneficial alternative socio-economic models, resistance to crises faced by encouraging Africans to become more active in resisting the neo-colonial structures and influences that drives extraction and climate & biodiversity crisis on the continent, connect with agents of change with the potential to act as a counterweight to the need for alternatives to current socio-economic models.
Creative Partners (formerly called Key Influencers) is Greenpeace’s umbrella word for various types of key opinion leaders and influential individuals who have an influence on society or a certain part of it. Creative/influencers can be cultural icons, public figures, traditional celebrities, authors, musicians, artists, thought leaders and digital activists such as bloggers, Youtubers, gamers or TikTok stars. They are strategic partners with the power to impact global or local opinion, help shape positive narratives around climate change and engage audiences to accelerate our campaign wins.
Creative partners play a crucial role in reaching our objectives – campaign, engagement and fundraising. They are also crucial in our storytelling. Enabling us to deepen our relationship with existing audiences and reach new ones, enable us to be a part of their everyday experience and share our stories through familiar, trusted and diverse voices. In our campaigns they seek to win behavioural changes, strengthening people-powered campaigning. Support our fundraising efforts with new lead generation and direct donations. Help strengthen our brand by making Greenpeace Africa more relevant and visible in different contexts. Increase our social license and make Greenpeace Africa more culturally relevant.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- Pursuing or recent University Graduate in research, data analytics or related field
- Experience in a non-profit campaigning especially on environmental issues
- Experience in using online platforms and digital fluency
- Understanding of social media, key influencers and the power of partnership and movement work
- Experience in working with partners or partnership relationships.
- Experience in entry level data capture.
- Experience in basic research and information and data collection, capturing and reporting.

Job Description and principal accountabilities:
- General administration task to support the GPAF Partnerships team. The team focus is Strategic partners as well as Creative partners.
- Work closely with the team to provide timely data capture of incoming requests and data collection of information into all databases.
- Undertake to perform quick and important research and vetting of partners as requested by the partnerships team and be able to collect this data within existing workflows established.
- Support partnerships team in activity/event planning by setting up meetings with other stakeholders and to capture all meeting notes, action points and other business discussed.
- Send a weekly reminder of action points to the partnerships team for follow up and reminders to be actioned by the partnerships team.
- Assist with interpretations and translations of various agreement documentation such as MOU’s and TOR’s for all partnerships work.
Training and induction:
Basic training will be provided on all internal applications and communications platforms.
Detailed induction will include standard induction procedures.
Other induction will be provided by the Partnerships team on internal processes, workflows, database management, review of MOU’s, TOR’s and other procedures.
