Title: Direct Dialogue Manager

Location:  Mauritius, with flexibility to work from home as GPAF implements a hybrid work location model with work-from-home being the main base of our work location.


Purpose of the Role 

The Direct Dialogue Manager for Mauritius will be responsible for leading, managing, and developing Greenpeace Africa’s face-to-face fundraising program in the country. This is a critical leadership role that combines strategic fundraising, people management, and operational oversight. The manager will be accountable for the program’s success, ensuring fundraising goals are met while upholding the values and principles of Greenpeace.

Main duties 

Fundraising Program Management:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive direct dialogue fundraising strategy for Mauritius, including identifying target locations (e.g., malls, public events, street campaigns) and setting ambitious but achievable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • KPI Achievement: Be fully responsible for achieving the fundraising KPIs, including targets for new donor acquisition, donor retention rates, average gift size, and overall net income growth. Regularly monitor and analyze performance data to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Budget Management: Manage the program’s budget, including tracking income and expenditure. Oversee the management of petty cash for daily operational needs, ensuring all financial transactions are properly documented and reported.

Team Recruitment, Training, and Management:

  • Recruitment: Lead the entire recruitment process for Direct Dialogue Fundraisers (also known as campaigners). This includes creating compelling job descriptions, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions to build a high-performing team.
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and existing fundraisers. This includes training on Greenpeace’s campaigns and values, effective communication techniques, fundraising ethics, and data integrity.
  • Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations and provide continuous coaching, mentorship, and feedback to the fundraising team. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective action plans as needed. Motivate and inspire the team to meet and exceed their targets.
  • Leadership: Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that is aligned with Greenpeace’s mission. Act as a role model, demonstrating a strong passion for environmental and social justice

Operational and Administrative Management:

  • Office Management: Be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the direct dialogue office in Mauritius. This includes managing logistics, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all fundraising activities comply with local laws and internal Greenpeace policies, including ethical fundraising standards. Prepare and submit regular reports on fundraising performance, budget, and team activities to senior management.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Collaborate with other departments within Greenpeace Africa and maintain a strong working relationship with the regional fundraising team.

Qualifications, Skills Competencies and Experience 

  • Bachelors Degree level or equivalent
  • Face-to-Face fundraising with a minimum of 7-8 years of experience in setting up new markets.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a fundraising, sales, or direct marketing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating a team to achieve performance targets.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and KPIs, particularly in face-to-face fundraising.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative abilities, including budget and petty cash management.
  • A high level of comfort with data analysis and performance monitoring.
  • A strong commitment to the mission and values of Greenpeace.
  • Fluency in English and French is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and travel as required.
