بيروت- ٥ آب: نظمت اليوم “غرينبيس المتوسط” الى جانب جمعية “ريسايكل ليبانون” يوماً كاملاً خال من البلاستيك في حملة لتنظيف الشاطئ في دالية الروشة جمع أكثر من 250 مشارك. الحملة هي جزء من حركة #BalaPlastic التي تهدف إلى رفع التوعية حول آثار استخدام البلاستيك ذو الاستعمال الأحادي (العبوات البلاستيكية والقش والمعالق والشوك البلاستيكية والأكياس الخ …).
قال جوليان جريصاتي، مسؤول حملات غرينبيس في العالم العربي: “من الرائع رؤية هذا العدد الكبير من الأفراد الذين يأخذون المبادرة ويتحركون من أجل بلدنا وبيئتنا. لقد آن الأوان لأن ندرك أن بإمكاننا وينبغي علينا كمواطنين أن نكون جزءا من الحل في معالجة أزمة النفايات، ليس فقط عبر المشاركة في حملات تنظيف الشواطئ، ولكن الأهم من ذلك هو تغيير عاداتنا اليومية”.
وأضاف جريصاتي:”أكثر من 700 طن من البلاستيك ترمى يومياً في لبنان تشوه بيئتنا وطبيعة بلادنا بسبب الممارسات السيئة في إدارة النفايات. اذا أدرنا ظهرنا إلى البلاستيك الأحادي الاستعمال ولجأنا الى بدائل أكثر استدامة، فإننا بذلك سنكون على ثقة أن كميات أقل من النفايات ستنتهي في غاباتنا وأنهارنا وبحرنا، ونكون قد التزمنا بموقف واضح ضد الواقع الذي تحاول الدولة اللبنانية فرضه علينا”.
وقد قامت مجموعات من النشطاء البيئيين والمتطوعين والفنانين بتنظيف موقع دالية الروشة، وهي واحدة من آخر المناطق النباتية الهامة والمتبقية وذات الأهمية الكبرى بالنسبة للنظام البيئي البحري اللبناني بأكمله.
وقالت جوسلين كعدي، مؤسسة جمعية “ريسايكل ليبانون”: “شهد اليوم أول عمل تعاوني لمعالجة “إدماننا” على البلاستيك وإظهار الحلول التي تندرج ضمن مسؤوليتنا الجماعية وتقديم ممارسات عملية للتخلص من الاستهلاك الفائض للبلاستيك من خلال أنشطة تعليمية ممتعة. البلاستيك هو جزءا أساسيا من أزمة النفايات لدينا، ويمكننا صنع التغيير من أجل لبنان أفضل، يبدأ مع كل واحد منا “.
تجدر الاشارة الى ان البلاستيك الذي تم جمعه سيساهم في تطوير عملا فنيا يعمل عليه مختبر التصاميم المؤثرة DI-LAB في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، ويرمز العمل إلى “غزو البلاستيك” وسيتم عرضه على خشبة مسرح فرقة مشروع ليلى في مهرجان اهدنيات في 12 آب المقبل.
Hundreds of activists participate to beach clean up to raise awareness against single use plastics
Beirut- 5 August: As part of the #BalaPlastic movement that aims to raise awareness around the impacts of single use plastic (bottles, straws, cutleries, bags etc…), Greenpeace Mediterranean and Recycle Lebanon organized today a plastic free beach clean up in Dalieh of Raouche gathering more than 250 participants.
Julien Jreissati, Arab World campaigner at Greenpeace said: “It is refreshing to see that many people determined to take “Dive Into” action for the sake of our country and our environment. It is time for us to realise that we as citizens can and should be part of the solution to the ongoing waste crisis not only by participating to beach clean ups but more importantly by changing our daily behavior.”
Jreissati added “Every day more than 700 tons of plastics are thrown in Lebanon disfiguring our natural environment due to the current catastrophic waste management practices. By turning our back to single use plastic and opting for alternatives, we make sure that less waste ends up in our forests, rivers and sea and we take a stand against a reality that the Lebanese state tries to impose”.
Armed with rubber gloves and cotton bags, the groups of activists, divers, volunteers and artists diligently cleaned up the site, which is one of the last remaining classified Important Plant Area (IPA) of significance to the entire Lebanese marine ecosystem.
Joslin Kehdy, founder of Recycle Lebanon said:”Today saw the first collaboration to address our plastic addiction and showcase access to solutions tackling our collective responsibility, consumption, and disposal habits with educational activities. Plastic is a central part of our waste crisis and we can choose not to be accomplice to the irresponsible actions of the authorities but rather agent of change for a better Lebanon. It starts with each and everyone of us.”
The plastic collected will contribute to the development of an art installation by the Design Impact Laboratory (Di-Lab) symbolising Lebanon’s plastic invasion and will be exhibited on stage during the Mashrou Leila concert at the Ehdeniyat festival on August 12.
