This position is only open to the candidates that have legal rights to live and work in Sri Lanka. 

This position is offered on a 3 month part time consultancy contract basis initially, with possibility of extension 

Location: The position is hybrid (home-office). We offer competitive NGO level consultancy fees, the specifics of which depend on location where the successful candidates will be based. We aim to share this information with candidates before reaching the offer stage. 

Greenpeace South Asia is a newly established regional office which is at the initial stage of development with an interesting portfolio of the countries. GPSA’s environmental campaigns are focussed on just transition, climate change adaptation and building momentum towards more inclusive environment protection and sustainable development initiatives. 

Whom we’re looking for: 

● Diploma or Certificate in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 

● 2–4 years of experience in community mobilization, NGO work, social movements, or grassroots campaigns 

● Proven experience working with local communities, especially in Northern Sri Lanka (Mannar preferred) 

● Fluency in Tamil (spoken and written) is essential; working knowledge of English required 

● Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills 

● Experience organizing meetings, workshops, and community discussions ● Ability to document activities clearly and systematically 

● Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders and media ● Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours as needed

In this role you will: 

● Coordinate and work closely with local community leaders in Mannar with whom Greenpeace South Asia is actively working on issues 

● Organize regular meetings with community leaders in Mannar 

● Help in reaching out to various local community stakeholders like local elected representatives, right based groups etc. 

● Help in conducting internal and external workshops for community members. ● Support and coordinate hosting online/offline meetings, and events on the campaign ● Help coordinating FGDs with community members for research 

● Document and analyze community campaign progress 

● Help building Tamil media relationship in Jaffna and Colombo
