The MSC ELSA 3 shipwreck is spreading plastic pellets and other hazardous cargo across South Asia’s coastline — from India’s shores of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, to Sri Lanka’s beaches and soon beyond. While communities face the possibility of poisoned waters, dead marine life, and destroyed livelihoods, the polluter hides behind silence.
This is a grave environmental and humanitarian crisis.
We demand MSC:
- Disclose the full cargo manifest
- Create and share a transparent action plan to clean up the mess with independent monitoring
- Take financial liability for the loss of livelihood and compensate our coastal communities.
This disaster knows no borders, and neither should justice.
