We’ve lost count of the times we’ve been the David to governments’ and big corporations’ Goliath. And over the years, that campaign approach has worked well, really well.

We successfully fought against whaling, the dumping of nuclear waste, and drilling for oil in the Artic to name just a few.

But now, with 20 years in Asia under our belt, it’s time for a new, fresh and bold campaign approach. And it’s one where YOU play the leading role.

It’s a call to action.

It’s U vs U

It’s a call to go into battle with your own mind. One part of you wants to consume, the other part of you wants to protect the environment. This is a call to make us all stronger to make our choices more wisely.

To resist urges to buy new – yet unneeded – clothes; to drive instead of taking the metro; to eat meat every day; to ramp up the air con. By doing what you believe in, you will be rewarded with the real feeling of the good life because feeling good from giving is infinitely better than feeling good by taking.

We’ve all done it. I know I’ve done it — used throwaway plastic, bought something I don’t need because my eye was caught by a bargain. We’ve all given in to the urge. And it’s OK, it’s all about doing our best.

But when we go to battle with ourselves and win, that feeling is better than any transitory joy from consumption.

From confrontation to self-reflection

Our U Vs U campaign is all part of our Good Life project which aims to open people’s minds to three truths.

  • One is that economies — to grow and be healthy – must operate within the environmental limits of our planet. That’s non-negotiable, we only have one planet.
  • Two, people feel good about themselves from healthy relationships with other people and through gaining experiences, not through amassing more and more “stuff.”
  • And three, you as an individual do make a difference because you are not alone. You are part of an ever-increasing group of people working together – that’s our People Power! You are with us, and we are with you!

You are not at war with anyone but yourself on the pathway to redefine The Good Life.

Are you ready to go into battle?
