OVERALL PURPOSE

The Insights Analyst conducts data analysis and reporting in order to track the progress of our public engagement strategies, inform decision-making, and identify best practices, risks, and new opportunities.

SCOPE

The post holder is responsible for centralizing, cleaning, and analyzing data in order to provide relevant insights for decision-making in the areas of engagement, campaigning, and digital fundraising in a timely and punctual manner. This role will also lead the development of Greenpeace MENA’s data strategy, including the establishment of data standards and governance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • DEVELOP a Greenpeace MENA data strategy, data standards, and data governance in collaboration with key staff. 
  • IMPLEMENT data collection, data cleaning, data munging, data tagging, and other data preparation needed to deliver the required reporting and analysis tasks.
  • ANALYZE different datasets in order to transform raw data into actionable insights and recommendations that support ongoing performance monitoring and inform decision-making.
  • CREATE and maintain strategic reports and dashboards.
  • LEVERAGE website and audience data to draw insights, develop hypotheses, and proactively implement testing opportunities for campaign, engagement, and FR efforts.
  • ESTABLISH GP MENA’s best practices and standards for online tracking, reporting, testing, and optimization of projects.
  • TRAIN and coach key staff on data, insights, and reporting literacy.
  • COMMUNICATE results, insights, and learnings to various stakeholders using data visualization and presentation tactics.
  • COLLABORATE with different teams to help them define clear requirements for testing, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of projects.
  • HOLD internal stakeholder and external vendor relationships and be accountable for data projects delivered by third-party vendors.
  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT by keeping abreast of the most recent methodologies, trends, and best practices in data analysis and insight development. Identify opportunities to enhance research techniques and data processing
  • OTHER: any other duty, as appropriate to the post and as delegated by your line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a business or quantitative subject (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, data science, statistics, economics or finance)

Experience & Skills

  • At least three (3) years of experience in a data analysis and insight role or equivalent experience gained through a professional qualification
  • Strong experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Looker Studio, and Google Sheets
  • Strong understanding of social media and other media analytics tools, as well as social network native reporting platforms
  • Proven strong experience with digital reporting and metrics
  • Proven ability to draw out the ‘why’ behind the analysis and reporting requests in order to maximize the usefulness of the analysis you produce
  • Good stakeholder management experience and comfort presenting to senior teams
  • Strong written and verbal data storytelling skills, with the ability to share analysis in a way that feels accessible and actionable to non-technical colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • It is desirable to have experience with dashboard and reporting tools, e.g., Tableau and Google Data Studio
  • Understanding CIVIS Analytics and Hubspot would be a bonus
  • Experience with any data analysis programming language, such as SQ and/or Python, would be a bonus
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
