Turning the Tide on Injustice

From the coasts of Kerala to the streets of Dhaka, this quarter marked a wave of progress across South Asia’s fight for climate and ocean justice.

In a historic global milestone, the Global Ocean Treaty officially came to life, unlocking the path to create high-seas sanctuaries that protect marine life beyond borders. Closer home, the struggle for justice after the MSC ELSA 3 shipwreck gained ground — with new evidence from the Wrecked Futures report and a landmark court order directing MSC to deposit ₹1,277 crore as interim security deposit. Meanwhile, Dhaka’s new heat-stress white paper reframed urban climate protection as a right, not a privilege. We will now take our learnings into ‘City Forward Imaginarium’,  where, through workshops and collaborations, residents, planners, and artists are re-envisioning neighbourhoods.

Each story in this issue is a testament to South Asia’s resolve, turning collective action into concrete change.
