Beijing – According to the latest data released by the National Energy Administration, China’s total installed capacity of wind and solar power reached 1400 GW by the end of 2024.

Greenpeace East Asia Beijing-based project lead Gao Yuhe (she/her) said:

“This reflects the robust momentum of China’s renewable energy development. The Chinese government’s official target of 200 GW for new wind and solar installations for 2025 is considered a minimum estimate. We anticipate that the actual figure will likely exceed 300 GW, strongly demonstrating that China’s growing electricity demand can be fully met by renewable energy in 2025.”
