About the position: 

As a Research Consultant, you will support Greenpeace South Asia in a research initiative examining urban spaces and infrastructure in cities. The assignment will involve desk-based research, literature review, spatial analysis support, data interpretation, and synthesis of findings into campaign-relevant outputs. The consultant will work closely with campaigners, external experts, and technical advisors to support the delivery of high-quality research and evidence-based insights.

In this role you will: 

The consultant will undertake literature reviews, support research design and methodology development, identify and assess relevant datasets, and analyze spatial, environmental, socio-economic, and governance-related data. The role will include interpreting GIS and remote sensing outputs, synthesizing key findings and trends, and producing high-quality research outputs such as reports, briefing notes, and policy-oriented materials. The consultant will also translate technical evidence into accessible narratives and recommendations for advocacy and campaign purposes, while collaborating with Greenpeace South Asia staff, project partners, and subject-matter experts throughout the research process.

Whom we’re looking for: 

The consultant should have demonstrated experience in urban research, policy analysis, and interdisciplinary studies that integrate social, environmental, spatial, and governance dimensions. They should possess strong knowledge of urban systems, public spaces, urban ecology, environmental governance, and issues of equity and accessibility, alongside proficiency in GIS, spatial analysis, and the interpretation of geospatial data, including maps and remote sensing outputs. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into accessible narratives and deliver high-quality outputs independently within agreed timelines.
