P. Bear lounges in a garden chair on Parliament Hill. The Greenpeace
mascot is there to ask the government of Stephen Harper about
commiting to the Kyoto Protocol.

Send a message to our politicians telling them you want our Kyoto obligations honoured and new tar sands developments stopped.

  • Make your voice heard
Contact your MLA or Alberta’s Minister of the Environment, Rob Renner, to demand that the provincial government end this environmental nightmare by stopping all new approvals for tar sands projects.

Ask the federal government to honour Canada's commitments under the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, and end access to tax breaks for tar sands expansions.

  • Volunteer
Stopping the development of the tar sands means confronting the world’s richest corporations and a powerful government. Greenpeace exists because this fragile Earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action and with our new office in Alberta we are hoping to provide just that.

We have lots of upcoming action and volunteer opportunities, ranging from staffing information tables, designing materials, and writing reports, to helping with direct action events.  If you would like to join the effort please sign up to volunteer at www.greenpeacevolunteers.ca.

  • Training program
Greenpeace will provide volunteers with training on a variety of skills that are needed to help stop this project, from non-violent direct action, to media, to puppet making.  Please contact our office if you would like to get involved!

  • Submit your story
The impacts of the tar sands are being felt throughout Alberta, Canada and the rest of the planet. We want to hear from you about how the tar sands are impacting your world. From rising sea levels to rising housing prices, air pollution to the inability to get staff - tell us your story.
