The objectives of this review are to assess the methods used in a report undertaken to inform a cost-benefit analysis of additional pollution controls carried out for the South African power utility, Eskom, and to consider the reliability of the conclusions reached.
Large differences have been noted in quantified estimates of the health impacts associated with air pollution emissions from Eskom’s fleet of coal-fired power stations in South Africa: a critical question is thus whether these differences are associated with justifiable differences in opinion regarding available science or not.

Discussion
Granting Escom such a large bailout is madness. There are SO many better options to consider, many of which are already making a difference: particularly wind and solar power. We in South Africa have enormous areas of semi-desert (e.g. the Kalahari) which are imminently suitable for solar power. Wind power is also proving to be extremely successful (particularly in coastal areas like Jeffrey's Bay). Eskom has been hugely discredited in terms of its looting of the state coffers and its myopic policies that favour coal.
Our health including unborn babies are at risk. We need to address this issue a.s.a.p!!! Our government is useless. More concerned about our children and their future! There is no future. Please Take action now!!
I believe just about every second person has cancer of all types because of the pollution in South Africa.
