A team of Greenpeace activists, experts, and volunteers embarked on a 40-day expedition across five countries of the Carpathian region, Romania, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. The mission of the so-called “Mobile Rescue Station” is to amplify the urgent need for more strict protection in Europe’s last virgin and old-growth forests. Europe’s second-longest mountain range, represents a crucial stronghold against the climate crisis and biodiversity loss.

Against nuclear danger

Greenpeace’s work on nuclear issues in Ukraine began after the Chornobyl explosion. Greenpeace experts were the first international organization to assess the impact of the Russian occupation of the Chornobyl zone. Greenpeace Ukraine also systematically monitors the Zaporizhzhia NPP and advocates for sanctions against Rosatom.
