Powerful, corrupting and polluting, the oil and gas industry has no place in our collective future. Burning oil and gas drives climate change, fuels conflict and makes us sick. The search for it endangers communities, our precious oceans and marine life. Fossil fuel companies are responsible for a large majority of climate damaging emissions since the late eighties. The criminal thing is they have known this for just as long, and yet continue their destructive practices unwavered. Together we must transition away from oil and gas, and create renewable, citizen powered energy systems that are not only better for the planet, but are fairer for people too.
Join us in sending a strong message that offshore oil drilling is not welcome here.
New oil exploration off the Otago and Taranaki coasts by Austrian oil giant OMV risks catastrophic oil spills in New Zealand’s wild and pristine waters.
Oil spills threaten the livelihoods of our coastal communities, our delicate marine ecosystems, and the precious wildlife that lives in those waters.
These waters are alive with with a multitude of rare and endangered species, including dolphins, whales, penguins, albatross, seals and sealions.
We’re in the middle of a climate emergency. And OMV is one of just 100 companies that have caused more than 70% of the world’s climate emissions. We simply cannot afford to seek new oil to burn.
Through years of relentless pressure, we won a ban on new oil exploration permits. Now OMV is the last major oil company left with existing permits. Just as we resisted Petrobras, Chevron, Statoil, Shell and others before them, we must now resist OMV until all oil exploration in New Zealand comes to an end.
Sign on now to demand that OMV give up their oil and gas exploration permits.
OMV, I demand that you stop oil and gas exploration in New Zealand, and give up your drilling permits here immediately.
We want you to take action because together we’re strong.
Tell global banks not to fund these toxic disasters: together, we are standing against the tar sands oil pipelines scarring…
