Ottawa – In reaction to the release of the federal budget by Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland, Keith Stewart, Senior Energy Strategist at Greenpeace Canada, said:
“Canadians demanded a green and just recovery. Trudeau has responded with funds for Indigenous communities, child care and climate action, but fails to tackle our fossil fuel addiction and deepening inequality. To build a better normal, we must build back fossil free.”

What are your thoughts about the plan to store nuclear waste in Labrador??
mediocre. More money should be spent on Climate change remediation than any other thing in the budget. And there should be the right people determining what it should be spent on. Drawing down carbon should be the first challenge. It is not up to me to approved putting nuclear waste in Labrador. I live in Ontario. All the people in Labrador should make that decision.
It's a no-brainer that any more pipelines should bring more GHGs to the atmosphere. So 0 new emissions should be the goal. The attention should be on the GHGs that are already up there in the atmosphere, and our work is to draw them down. At whatever cost. At whatever effect on the economy. If we don't do this, there will be no planet to do jobs on, to spend money on. We have to have a place to live. Talk to Greta. Thunburg.
