European airlines – some of the European Union’s biggest polluters – have sought an unprecedented €41.9 billion (and counting) in government bailouts since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, as governments and the EU fail to impose binding and sufficient green conditions. European governments have already agreed to almost €38 billion in financial aid for airlines with a further €4 billion currently under discussion.

This airline bailout tracker by Greenpeace, Transport & Environment, and Carbon Market Watch uses publicly available data and will be regularly updated.
