Toxic chemicals are everywhere! But there is action you can take to help reduce the build-up of toxic pollution in our environment, and in your home.

Help reduce the e-waste problem

Green my apple…
Here at Greenpeace, we love our Macs. But we hate the fact that they're full of toxic chemicals. And we know someone who can do something about it – you.

Be a savvy consumer – don’t buy into the hype
  • Think twice before buying – do you really need that new device?
  • Support companies that make clean products. If you are buying a new computer or mobile phone check the ranking and make a greener choice
  • Return your equipment to the manufacturer when you have finished with it.

Help eliminate dioxins

The New Zealand Government, particularly the Minister for the Environment and the Minister of Health need to face up to the extent and nature of dioxin contamination in New Zealand. They need to reduce the threats of dioxin to all New Zealanders, and address the needs of people suffering from health problems related to dioxin contamination.

A personal letter shows that this issue is a serious concern to you, and does have an impact on politicians. Write your letter and post to: Freepost, Parliament Buildings, Wellington.

You can also write letters to the editor of your local newspaper and call talkback radio about the issues around toxic chemicals.
