In-person sessions take place monthly in our Auckland headquarters. You’ll also be sent a copy of our volunteer handbook, to be signed and returned as you complete your induction.
Or if you don’t want to wait, you can sign up now for the next orientation.

EVERYONE! Greenpeace is an organisation with a longstanding commitment of providing an environment that respects the dignity and worth of each individual. We recognise and value the benefits and strengths that diversity brings to the whole organisation and we thrive in an environment that encourages respect and trust.
Volunteers are well supported by staff and are provided with training and skills development. Several of our volunteer roles can be done online and each new volunteer will be inducted to the space, role, and activity, whether online or in person.
If you are attending our in person sessions, our warehouse is accessible and is child-friendly. Please be advised that we do require closed toed shoes in the warehouse for safety reasons.
If you’d like to discuss volunteer opportunities or have more questions about the accessibility of our volunteer programme, please reach out to Charlie at [email protected]. We want everyone to feel welcome and prepared so we can all have a safe and fun time.
Many of our volunteers are involved in multiple organisations. At Greenpeace we recognise that when it comes to protecting the environment and working towards a green and peaceful future, we need everyone to work together to create positive change for all.
So, if you would like to get involved with Greenpeace as well, all you have to do is signup to be a volunteer with us.
Greenpeace Aotearoa is a nationwide organisation. Our network of volunteers extends across the country, and is collectively one of our greatest assets. So, yes you can still volunteer if you aren’t located in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
Several of our volunteer roles can be done online, and we also provide support, resources, and training to help you make meaningful environmental change in your local community.
Sign up to an orientation to learn more about our available volunteer opportunities. We run our volunteer sessions in person and on Zoom, so anyone in Aotearoa can get involved.
Yes, of course. We realise that finding the right volunteer role & organisation for your values is important, which is why we run orientation sessions.
If your circumstances change or you want a different volunteering role, talk to Charlie, your volunteer coordinator.
We would love you to still be part of our mission and working towards a green and peaceful future, in whatever way works best for you.
Activism is at the heart of Greenpeace campaigning. Greenpeace activists peacefully expose or confront those responsible for environmental damage, often companies or governments. We work with activists and allies to stage creative, attention-grabbing protests such as this protest in Wellington. Safety is our priority, and all Greenpeace activists are fully trained and briefed.
After attending the volunteer orientation session, you might wish to take the next step in your activism journey and take part in our Basic Actions Training.
The training will cover an introduction to direct actions and how Greenpeace uses them in our campaigning. We will talk about the philosophy of non-violence, share our stories (and yours), play around with some tricks and tools of the trade, and generally all learn more about activism, and how we do actions as Greenpeace. There will be an emphasis on fun and getting to know each other.
Due to limited places the training is by invitation only and we really do want to prioritise people who are keen on doing direct actions with us.
If you’re keen to find out more, register your interest today!
Great, we’d love to answer them.
