Responding to today’s proposals by the Ontario government to amend the Endangered Species Act, Head of Forest Campaign with Greenpeace Canada Shane Moffatt commented:

“The Ford government is proposing to create a potential “pay to slay” loophole in the Endangered Species Act that allows industry and developers to pay into a fund rather than protect the habitat of at-risk species. At a time when the Earth’s wildlife are in crisis, we should be restoring our natural environment, not allowing big business to cut a cheque and send in the bulldozers.”
