The federal government is expected to announce a bailout package for the oil and gas industry. Let’s tell Justin Trudeau’s cabinet to invest in people not dying industries by making #JustTransition trend on Twitter.
Twitter connects politicians, opinion makers, journalists and activists. By inviting friends and allies to join this Twitterstorm targeting decision-makers, we can make our demand to bailout people and invest in a #JustTransition impossible to ignore. We believe that YOU can influence politicians to make the right decision. Now it’s your turn to use this digital megaphone to make some noise.
This week, we are sending a message to the federal government, tell Justin Trudeau’s cabinet to invest in a #JustTransition. You have two full days to tweet like you’ve never tweeted before!
The COVID-19 crisis is hitting communities hard, impacting people’s health, causing massive economic disruption, and upending our lives.
Now is the time for the government to step up with real support for communities to weather this crisis and recover in a way that builds resilience and sustainability.
It’s NOT a time for handouts to the oil corporations causing the climate crisis or increasing our vulnerability to threats like climate change.
Let’s speak out together to make sure communities receive the support they need.

Fossile fuel is what got us in this situation. I suggest 0 $ and an important investment in green energy.
When will we ever learn?? I want to protect the future for our Grandchildren...
When this is over we must never go back to the way we were! And the place to reverse the incredible destruction to the lives of average Canadians over the last 40 years of the neoliberal ideology entrenched in our governments is here and now. The extreme inequality that we are mired in now must be reversed beginning with the blatant handouts of our money to the big business that controls politicians, elected representatives who have a mandate to "serve the needs of their constituents," while 1.5 million Canadian children go to bed hungry. Not here, not now, never again.
We are all connected in this world & we need people to *CHANGE* & take care of the earth & our environment so we can all survive healthier & better! *Thank you* for any positive thing you can do to *HELP*! *BLESSINGS* for all of us *TOGETHER*
bailout people who need it, not corporations which have not been as careful as they should have been.
We can all help the fossil fuel people transition into sustainable industry. Its time for moving on and breathing this clean air.
People, not corporations; renewables, not more fossil fuels; less, not more discrepancy in wealth.
Bravo to getting out of fossil fuels...
When I was much younger I campaigned for Greenpeace, Fought to save Temagami Ont. ancient pine forests, and protested at Clayoquot Sound B.C. In all that Greenpeace was with protesters across Canada. I will always be a strong supporter of Greenpeace Canada. Thank You for all you continue to do to save our Eco system from coast to coast to coast.
Please put people and the environment ahead of corporate interests and profits in your final years as prime minister of Canada. Think of the unliveable world you will leave for your children if you don't.
r, around 40 -more to join ), the dirty internal combustion engine - gas/diesel vehicles will be banned on their public roads. Hence the dirty oil industry will be affected. And once people see how cheap free energy is, they will go green.
It's time for the Green New Deal, not for bailouts to oil and gas! There's no returning to the system that got us into the climate emergency! Bail out small businesses and support people in need.
In the midst of this pandemic, with all the disruption, death, and politically charged conspiracy theories, we can nonetheless see a silver lining which grows brighter every day. With most of society practicing a shut-down of non-essential activities, the planet's air quality improves daily. Likewise, the oceans are benefiting from this break from the "business as usual" stance big oil wants us to believe is the only way to go. The threats being posed by the current pandemic are dwarfed by the insanely adverse effects the activities of modern society are imposing on our planet , our very existence. The inhabitants of Earth are at a crossroads, and the right path to take is becoming increasingly clear. No to Big Oil. No to mega farming and the over-consumption of meat. Society will do just fine without them. Yes to social justice. We CAN adjust virtually overnight, as the co-operation being seen around the world in an effort to beat corona-virus 19 is showing us.
Imagine your on death row and you are incident. You are there for the actions of what someone did 40 years ago. There is nothing you or anyone else can do to stop your early death. That is your grandchildren and everyone else on this planet 40 years from now. Feedback loops have no empathy.
People and alternative forms of energy come first, so that more people do not die from the effects of fossil fuels.
The science based findings made available on the internet and being summarized there and in book form too, look to me to be very pertinent for long term planning. This information points to the fact that we as a species are fast destroying the Biosphere on which our lives and future life on this planet depends. There are no alternate sources in sight. The data also shows that we do not have to be doing this and that there is another way still open to us to take a sustainable path for our species and most other species as well. Why are our leaders, particularly the political classes so reticent to change? Extinction is where we are headed and most of our policies will hasten that end. Even the way we are dealing with Covin-19! Some of our youth and some with concern for their progeny's future are speaking out for change. Anyone have an explanation?
No money for oil companies!!! Give me back any of my tax $ that would be given to these "thieves"!!!
