US President Donald Trump is on a mission to actively dismantle European standards, be it on the environment, digital or social areas – for US corporations to profit. He has made his views clear on many occasions, including on the EU regulation on deforestation-free products, the digital laws and related fines to US digital companies, and on environmental legislation more generally.

It is clear to see why: by rapidly lowering EU environmental, social and economic safeguards in the EU and imposing a dangerously skewed trade deal, President Trump’s powerful corporate supporters stand to gain hugely.
