VASILIKI MALISIOTI

A woman from Greece whose town was ravaged by an extreme flood faces a challenge of rebuilding their family’s life after a disaster

In Falani, Larissa, Greece, Vasiliki Malisioti faced a sudden flood that engulfed her community. Rushing to rescue her parents while her sister was in the hospital, they had little time to grab anything.

After four days, the waters receded, revealing chaos. Falani Waters had invaded homes, and Vasiliki, along with others, tried salvaging what was left.

Families, including those with young children, found themselves homeless. Vasiliki calls for a proper assessment of the disaster and state aid, acknowledging that the government is their only hope.

Object of Memory

Vasiliki’s home in Falani turned into a battleground when floods hit. Returning after four days, she faced wreckage. The flood invaded their homes, leaving many families struggling to salvage what remained. Homes damaged, people helpless, especially those with kids, suddenly became homeless. Vasiliki hopes for a thorough disaster assessment and government aid, recognizing it as their only hope for recovery.
