Show your love for nature

Nature is part of who we are in Aotearoa – it’s where we go to escape, recharge, and connect, and it’s the critical refuge native wildlife needs to survive.

But nature is under attack from this Coalition Government, their fast-tracked projects and the Conservation Amendment Bill.

That’s why we’re launching Hike for Nature. By lacing up your boots, you can show your love of nature and help protect the places and wildlife you love for generations to come.

A fun, free, month-long challenge

Challenge yourself to hike 50 km, 75 km or 100 km this October to defend nature.

Share your challenge and ask your friends and whānau to sponsor your kilometres to power Greenpeace’s ongoing work to defend nature.

Every dollar you raise and every kilometre you cover will help protect the places you love.

Go at your own pace

Pick the challenge that suits your lifestyle and hike wherever you enjoy nature the most.

Whether you’re walking your local park, exploring trails, or spending a weekend in the bush, Hike for Nature is a chance to get out and connect with nature.

What is the Hike for Nature?

Nature is under threat by this Coalition Government and their war on nature.

The Conservation Amendment Bill would make it easier to commercially exploit and even sell off public conservation land. But this is only the latest attack on the laws that protect nature in Aotearoa.

With more than 4000 native species on the brink of extinction in Aotearoa, now is the time to come together and protect the nature we love.

That’s why we’ve created Hike for Nature. Open to people across Aotearoa, Hike for Nature is a month-long challenge taking place in October 2026. Hikers will set a distance goal – 50 km, 75 km, or 100 km – to hike towards over October, and ask their friends and whānau to donate to their effort and raise money for our ongoing work to defend nature. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature, whilst helping protect the unique wildlife of Aotearoa.

By lacing up your boots and joining Hike for Nature, you can show your love of nature and make a lasting impact towards the protection of nature in Aotearoa.

Every dollar raised in Hike for Nature directly supports Greenpeace’s work to defend nature

Greenpeace is 100% independent. We don’t take a single dollar from corporations or governments. Every dollar raised will power Greenpeace’s work to protect the irreplaceable places that make Aotearoa unlike anywhere else on Earth.
