Toronto – In response to the emphasis on fast-tracking projects of national significance in today’s Speech from the Throne, Greenpeace Canada senior energy strategist Keith Stewart said:
“Not all projects of national significance are created equally. The only way the government can move quickly on them while honouring the government’s commitment to uphold world-leading environmental standards and respecting Indigenous rights is if those projects are focused on addressing climate change and the affordability crisis, rather than fast-tracking the expansion of harmful fossil fuels. We need green grids and affordable homes, not new pipelines.”
