Demand the world’s largest meat empire. JBS, to reveal the true cost of their expansion.

The world’s largest meat processor, JBS, is driving forward a predatory $6 billion global expansion [1], of which almost half has been earmarked for Nigeria [2].
We know their playbook of systematic deception from the Amazon rainforest and beyond. Now, as its billionaire executives chase aggressive expansion and record profits, they are looking to export that same destructive business model to new “frontiers”.
There is a good reason to fear that JBS’ predatory plans in Nigeria risk locking-in spiralling emissions, causing irreversible environmental damage, as well as risking the displacement of local farmers and communities [3], to line the pockets of wealthy international elites.
Civil society in Nigeria is already on high alert. They’ve seen firsthand the destruction that another infamous Dutch company, Shell, already wrought on their country. But JBS is failing to release all relevant information about their plans, making it harder for communities to challenge this imperialist take over.
We won’t stand by. Greenpeace Netherlands has just served the JBS Board with a formal legal demand to release the files. They have three weeks to hand the information over.
We believe these files contain the evidence we need. Once released, Greenpeace Netherlands intends to assess and use the information as the foundation for a legal challenge in court to stop JBS causing further dangerous harm to the climate, nature and human rights through its predatory expansion.
And if they ignore us and keep hiding the truth? The courts have the power to drag JBS’ owners, the billionaire Batista brothers, into a Dutch court and force them to testify under oath.
While everyday families pay the price through rising food costs, climate instability and extreme weather events, JBS executives are expanding their empire driven by a toxic greed.
We need your help to push this forward. Send an email to the JBS Board right now. Tell them the clock is ticking, the world is watching: release the files!
