Oil corporations profit billions from war. You pay the bill.

The war in Iran is a human tragedy, but for already ultra-rich fossil fuel giants, their CEOs and shareholders, it is a goldmine.

No one should profit from war. Let’s make sure oil and gas profits get recovered and redirected to the people, projects and communities who need them.

When conflict drives up global energy prices, oil and gas corporations profit. In the first year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, five of the largest fossil fuel giants alone reportedly made US $134 billion in excess profits [1]. Now with the war in the Middle East, the pattern is the same.

Families are being torn apart, and innocent civilians are paying the ultimate price for geopolitical power plays, while the rest of us pay day to day, week to week, month to month.

Everywhere, families face higher bills for heating, electricity, food, and transport, pushing millions of people deeper into financial stress.

This crisis proves that our dependence on global oil markets is a security failure. And climate change caused by oil and gas corporations is making the world even less safe.

Now is the moment to break free from this polluting industry altogether.

We must tax the fossil fuel corporations profiting from these crises instead of letting them pass on the cost to us. With these funds we can support communities recovering from war and extreme weather, and protect families from sky-high energy bills. And critically, we can accelerate the transition to secure, domestic renewable energy. You cannot blockade the sun or sanction the wind.

Add your name to tell world leaders not to turn their back on our communities and introduce new taxes on the profits of ultra-rich oil and gas corporations so they pay their fair share.
