27 organisations wrote to Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová calling on her to include all those impacted by SLAPP lawsuits in proposed new rules.
Strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs) are used by the rich and powerful to tie critics up in expensive legal procedures and ultimately silence them. SLAPPs are often used to silence journalists and media organisations, but also activists, NGOs, trade unions and others. We are calling on Commissioner Jourová to protect everyone currently targeted by SLAPPs.
