Join the Greenpeace International poster contest

Theme: No to Fossil Fuels. Yes to Renewables.

Fossil gas is a dirty fossil fuel – just like coal and oil. Yet it’s still one of Europe’s main energy sources. Millions of homes run on it, even though it fuels the climate crisis and threatens our health and safety. We must end fossil gas, oil and coal. The solutions already exist. Solar and wind energy are safe and affordable. Europe must choose the future and phase out gas by 2035.

We’re calling on our creative supporters of all ages to create powerful, hopeful, or funny posters that say NO to fossil gas, oil, and coal and YES to a 100% renewable future.

In addition, the top three designs will be printed as full-size posters and postcards and featured on the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise this year.

Use any style you like: hand-drawn, painted, digital, collage… Make it original, make it powerful. Design vertically (portrait format works best), and feel free to use any language you like.

About the campaign

Fossil fuels are bad for our planet. Take fossil gas for example: It’s mostly methane, a gas that heats the earth much faster than CO₂. Even though it’s harmful, we still use it all over Europe to warm our homes and produce electricity. But there’s another big problem: Europe has to buy fossil gas from countries like Russia or the US. This makes us dependent on them, giving power to leaders like Putin and Trump who might threaten or bully us.

Companies and governments keep spending billions on new gas pipelines, LNG terminals and power plants. This locks us into using fossil gas for many years, making it hard to switch to better energy sources.

But there’s good news: we can change this! We can move away from fossil gas and instead use renewable energy from the sun and wind. This way, we’ll have clean air, lower energy bills, new jobs, and we won’t have to rely on bullies like Trump and Putin.

We need posters that expose the lies and dangers of fossil gas and show that renewables are the way forward.
