Dear Pieter Heerema,

I call on Allseas to stop pushing harmful deep-sea mining and sever all ties with The Metal Company. As TMC seeks to circumvent international regulations by submitting a mining licence with the Trump administration, it is now clearer than ever what this company’s values are: money, and not nature or climate. According to scientists, deep-sea mining causes irreversible damage to marine life. It is crucial to protect this last untouched wilderness.

Dozens of countries have already spoken out against deep-sea mining, and major companies such as Google, Samsung, Philips, and car brands such as Volkswagen, BMW and Volvo are also already calling for a temporary ban. This broad international and industry support highlights the urgency of protecting the deep sea.

Sincerely,
{first name}, Greenpeace supporter

Who is Allseas?

The Dutch-Swiss family company Allseas is a major booster of deep-sea mining and builder of the world’s first and only deep-sea mining vessel. Allseas is the main partner of Canadian deep-sea mining company The Metals Company (TMC). Currently, deep-sea mining is not yet allowed in international waters. Scientists warn of the major irreversible harmful effects of this industry. The International Seabed Authority decides whether and when countries are allowed to mine in the deep sea.

Allseas’ partner TMC wants to bypass this UN international body. We cannot allow greedy companies and reckless governments to destroy our oceans. Together, we can send a strong message to Allseas that protecting our oceans is an absolute priority!
