Be aware that in some countries, stickering or postering in public may be illegal as it can be considered vandalism, fly-posting or littering. Some communities also face greater risks of being policed or profiled. Only put up posters in spaces where you have permission to do so. If you’re stickering in public, please inform yourself on local legislation before going out.

If there is a Greenpeace organisation in your country or region you can also contact them to ask for legal guidance and support.

Ideas for places to put up posters and stickers:

Things to consider before stickering and postering:

✅ Stickering in public can be discreet because they are small and you can easily stick them to places – just be aware of the local legislation in your area and if need be, stick to places where you have permission.

⛔ Avoid putting up posters in public places as it may be too risky. Only put posters up in places where you have permission to do so.

✅ When stickering, think about places where people are likely to see stickers e.g. places where people have to queue or wait like bus or train stations, ATMs, ticket machines

⛔ Avoid covering up important information, such as door numbers, bus timetables or helpline phone numbers

⛔ Avoid stickering on individual private property like cars

⛔ Keep an eye out for CCTV and assess whether to move to somewhere else

⛔ Avoid stickering pristine buildings or art

✅ Buddy up with a friend

Share your photos!

Let’s show the world the resistance is growing. Post a photo of your sticker or poster in place and share it on social media, if you’re comfortable doing so.

  • Use a caption that says look what I saw rather than look what I did e.g. “Spotted in [area] 👀#TimeToResist
  • Avoid showing your face (or anyone else’s) in the photo
  • Use the hashtag #TimeToResist and tag @greenpeace – we’d love to amplify your creativity and solidarity
  • Posting a photo of your stickering activity or stickered locations could carry risk, especially if your face, identifiable location, or the act itself is visible. Please protect your identity if you choose to post.

Want to stay completely anonymous? That’s fine too, you’re still part of something bigger.
